WASHINGTON, PA (Sept. 15, 2017)–Contributing to the world in which we live is one of the many admirable qualities of our Presidents, and W&J Head Athletic Trainer Mike Lesako is showing our students how it’s done!
On Sept. 14 and 15, Mike set up a table in The Commons lobby during lunch to collect donations through Real Men Wear Pink of Washington County Strides Against Breast Cancer, a part of the American Cancer Society (ACS) that raises funds for breast cancer initiatives. He also was at the Sept. 16 football game to meet even more students.
Mike explained his dedication to the cause in his own words:
“I’m raising money for breast cancer awareness through the breast cancer awareness society. I was approached because my mother passed away in 2011 after an 8-year battle with cancer. I just want to make people more aware of this deadly disease and try to make money to find a cure.”
For a $1 donation, students received a pink ACS wristband; for a $3 donation, a wristband and a name card of someone they would like to honor to be displayed on campus; and for a $5 donation, they got a wristband, name card and chance to win a gift card.
